Thickness Measurement

An easy way of measuring the thickness materials is to use an ultrasonic thickness gauge, sometimes called a wall thickness gauge. Sound travels relatively easily through most solids and liquids and so if you time how long it takes to travel from one side to the other and back and you know the speed of sound in that material then you can find out the thickness. The speed of sound in a large range of material is available on our website.
